Worship and arts pastor Brian Tabor’s heart is to reach out to people with the Gospel through God-focused, engaging, excellent and seamless weekend services. “We believe that genuine and authentic heartfelt worship can be a powerful tool for evangelism. My goal is that each weekend would provide an authentic worship experience for our congregation, using elements of the service to draw them into a deeper relationship with Jesus.”
Brian uses Colossians 3:12-17 as his life and ministry passage, which points out the connections among worship, how we act toward others, and how the quality of our work honors God. Corporately worshipping God reaches out to people, gives them a passion for God and encourages everyone to share the hope of Christ to a dying world.
The team works from an online scheduling and planning tool, allowing those serving in the worship and arts ministry to review song lists for upcoming events and weekend services. “It has really transformed the way we function in a very positive way,” Brian added.
Worship and Arts Conference: January 23-24, 2009
We kicked off 2009 with a worship and arts conference in January, introducing Brian as our new worship and arts pastor. Together with his wife Kim, Brian led us through his purpose and goals for the year. He was a calming influence to those in attendance and encouraged everyone to share the hope of Christ through the worship and arts ministry.
Easter: April 12-13, 2009
The Easter service, This Is Our God, drew a crowd of 4,398 in weekend attendance, and all three services ended with a standing ovation as Kim Tabor performed the last song, a medley of In Christ Alone with On Christ the Solid Rock I Stand.
MPCC 125th Anniversary Celebration: April 18-19, 2009
We Will Remember, a celebratory song of praise, allowed the band and choirs to stir the congregation as we celebrated the MPCC legacy and vision — changing the world one life, one family, one opportunity at a time.
Declaration: July 4-5, 2009
A moving tribute to our founding fathers and their faith, much of Declaration was filmed on location supplemented with the praise team and band leading the congregation in a vigorous patriotic celebration.
Video Venue: Debuted - September 13, 2009
In the Video Venue, grab a cup of coffee and/or juice and a light breakfast. Instead of just chairs facing the stage, round tables create a cafe atmosphere. Video venue worship combines a live broadcast of the sermon from the Worship Center with an on-stage praise team. Sound and projection volunteers, a major part of the worship & arts production ministry, rotate in and out of this site along with their service in the main Worship Center each month.
The personal touch is conveyed through greeters, the worship team and host pastor. This growing venue, now approximately 80 people each weekend, provides a more intimate worship experience. In 2010 the goal is to provide full live worship.
Christmas: December 12-13, 2009
You could feel the hand of God reaching down from heaven to earth during the Christmas services, Joy to the World: Heaven Touches Earth. Our weekend services were packed to overflowing as our children’s choir, adult choir, band, orchestra, drama team, dancers and video participants filled us with the joy that comes with the presence of Jesus, our Emmanuel.
“God is our audience, and it is our goal to lead the congregation in an intimate encounter with Him. We are not performing for the congregation but leading them through a life-changing experience of worship.”
