God Sustains Us Every Day

Finding a church home seems like an easy task, but in our case, the process was a complicated web of trial and error. My wife Paula and I visited several different churches. We always left feeling something was missing and that God was leading us on a path somewhere else, ultimately ending at Mount Pleasant Christian Church (MPCC).

My wife and I came from different spiritual backgrounds. Spirituality and church attendance were not part of my upbringing. Paula, on the other hand, was raised in a devoted Lutheran home. As an adult, she felt that the traditions of the church had created an emotionally indifferent congregation, and God’s message was not passionately shining through His people. After much prayer Paula was compelled to leave the only church she knew.

Not wanting to live a spiritually pedestrian life anymore, Paula suggested that we visit MPCC. Pastor Philbeck’s words were earnest, and the members made us feel welcome. It was evident from the beginning that God was at the center of this church and that God had been leading us to this church home. I was baptized in June 2009, and we officially became members. My family and I have come to know God on a much deeper level, and this sustains us every day – not just on Sunday.
