One summer evening in 2009 when our youth group traveled to Christ in Youth’s annual conference called MOVE, each student was given a card. The organizers challenged us to do whatever the card instructed if we opened it. Four of us, Samantha Reynolds, Katie Corthell, Presleigh Hobbs, and I, each opened a card asking us to feed 500 families for Thanksgiving. To help with that, Meijer reduced their price on items toward our annual Celebration of Abundance. Each of us distributed totes at church and school and took donations to pay for the turkeys. During the distribution Friday, November 20, lines formed outside the Community Life Center.
“The job was done beyond expectation,” youth pastor Bruce Humphrey said. “We will definitely do this next year. Hands down we will feed more.”
